Not every meal needs to be a production. This list is Mariana and Bernat's answer to the question they get most from friends on the island: where can we eat well without spending €60 a head? These are the places they go to on a Tuesday — not the restaurants they take clients to, but the ones they return to because the food is genuinely good and the bill is not painful.

Most of the spots are in and around Palmanova and Portals Nous, which makes them practical for anyone based in the southwest. The selection is deliberately international: there is no single cuisine that dominates, because a good cheap Japanese or a reliable Indian is as much a neighbourhood staple as any local restaurant. What they share is consistency and value.
